Project Objectives:

Project Scope:

  • Location: The wildlife crossing bridge will be constructed over the Main Freeway, between mile markers 45 and 46.
  • Design: The bridge will feature natural landscaping, including native plants and trees, to mimic the surrounding habitat and encourage wildlife use.
  • Construction: The project will involve the installation of support structures, bridge decking, and fencing to guide animals towards the crossing.
  • Monitoring: Post-construction, the city will implement a monitoring program to track wildlife usage and ensure the bridge’s effectiveness.

Timeline:

  • Planning and Design: January 2024 - June 2024
  • Permitting and Approvals: July 2024 - September 2024
  • Construction: October 2024 - March 2025
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: April 2025 - December 2025

Budget: The estimated budget for the project is $5 million, which includes planning, design, construction, and monitoring costs. Funding will be sourced from city funds, state grants, and private donations.
